In 2006 Synergy Services restructured the leadership positions for their homeless and runaway programs including the outreach team and the transitional living program (TLP). I received a promotion and became the first coordinator for the TLP. One of the duties I took on involved going through program materials and rewriting/redesigning them to make them more youth-friendly. The Big Picture Handbook was the handbook for youth in the TLP that explained all the benefits and the rules of the program.

Although I didn't write all of the content of this handbook, I did rewrite a lot of it to change the wording to have a more positive tone. I also added all of the graphics to make the handbook more visually appealing, using free clip art from MicroSoft. To ensure everything was correct in terms of program policies, ongoing changes to the handbook were discussed during our weekly team meetings with frontline staff and management.
