In 2016 a UMKC (University of Missouri - Kansas City) student asked me to come to his Social Determinants of Health class as a guest speaker. He specifically requested a presentation on how social determinants for health impact the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning/queer, intersex, and allied/asexual community.

My expertise in this area developed from my experiences working in social services, HIV and sexual/reproductive health dating back to 1999. In recent years, HIV care and prevention with men who have sex with men and the transgender community has expanded to focus more on social determinants in addition to individual behavior.
